Music made me start photography

Hi, my name is Harry Obahor. I am a freelance photographer based in Switzerland, specialising in event-, concert and sports photography.

My journey into photography began in 2020, sparked by my deep love for music, especiallly hip-hop. I have been a music nerd every since turning about twelve years old. I have spent thousands of hours actively listening, digesting and discussing albums among my peers. Music will always be a staple in my life, it thought me to self-reflect and to pay close attention to details. I began to notice the beauty and subtlety in the world around me and learned that small moments that often go unnoticed have the power to tell a story.

Photography for me became a way to capture these fleeting moments. I’m fascinated by how an ordinary scene can transform into something meaningful by just taking a closer look.

Through my work, I aim to bring these smaller details into focus and give them a larger-than-life presence. I hope my images resonate with you and help you see the world through my eyes.

Sports made me a better photographer

Sports has had a profound impact on how I approach photography. The sport has taught me the importance of discipline, patience, and persistence—qualities that are just as crucial behind the lens as they are on the field. Practicing and playing regularly, I've learned how to embrace setbacks, whether it's a missed shot or an imperfect composition, and use those experiences to improve.

I play baseball. In baseball every play counts, and the same goes for photography. You learn to be present in the moment, to focus on the smallest details, and to work toward a bigger goal, even when the path to success isn’t always clear. The patience needed to perfect a swing or to wait for the right pitch mirrors the patience I put into capturing the perfect shot.

Baseball has taught me how to find beauty in the process, not just the result. And it’s this mindset that I carry into my photography, where every photo is a step toward telling a larger story. Whether I’m at a game, a concert, or just walking through life, I always bring the same sense of focus, discipline, and appreciation for the journey.
